One thing that has become abundantly clear in the last six months is how many RINOs are in Congress.
Now, if you’re not familiar with the term “RINO,” it means Republican In Name Only. These are people that campaign and get elected as Republicans but, then, betray the conservative politics and values of their Republican voter base.
Mitt Romney comes to mind. So does Lisa Murkowski. And the subject of this article, Susan Collins of Maine, is another person widely considered to be a RINO.
Now, Collins has gone further in cementing her status as a RINO by what she said about the witch hunt commission that Democrats are trying to put together to go after political conservatives such as supporters of Donald Trump. Tom Ozimek writes,
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) on Sunday expressed optimism that Senate Democrats and Republicans could reach agreement on establishing a Jan. 6 commission so long as the House-passed bill undergoes several changes.
Collins told ABC’s “This Week” that she “strongly” backs the establishment of an independent commission to probe the events around the Jan. 6 Capitol breach, but her support is conditional on bipartisan staffing and a report issued no later than by the end of this year.
The House approved a bill last week that would establish the Jan. 6 commission, which would be modeled on the commission that probed the 9/11 terror attacks. The investigative body would feature 10 members—five appointed by Republicans and five by Democrats—but Collins also wants commission staff to be appointed in a bipartisan fashion.
“I think that both sides should either jointly appoint the staff or there should be equal numbers of staff appointed by the chairman and the vice chairman,” Collins said.
The aim of the commission would be to investigate factors that contributed to the Capitol breach, including how technology, including “online platforms, financing, and malign foreign influence operations and campaigns may have factored into the motivation, organization, and execution” of the incident.
This is crazy. Collins sounds like one of the left-wing shills on CNN. She and Chris Cuomo sound like twins (okay, she sounds more polite)!
Does anyone who saw what happened on January 6, 2021 at the Capitol really think that a commission is needed to study this? The only person killed was an unarmed military veteran who was shot by Capitol Police. What reports of damage do you hear of? There are videos of Capitol Police letting people walk into the Capitol! It actually was “mostly peaceful,” unlike the riots in Portland and many other cities.
There’s nothing to investigate about January 6, 2021 other than why Democrats seem hellbent on trying to create big media headlines out of a non-existent “riot.” This is fake news just like the Trump Russia collusion hoax.
Susan Collins should be ashamed to even dignify Democrats efforts to put this commission together. By doing it, she, in effect, says that she buys into the mainstream media fake news narrative about that day.
Collins needs to be voted out of office at her very next re-election run, and the people of Maine need to put a real Republican into office to represent them.
