On Easter Sunday multiple churches and hotels came under attack by suicide bombers resulting in over 500 injured and a death toll of 290.
Now a government official of Sri Lanka has named the group responsible for the travesty.
Domestic militant group National Thowfeek Jamaath is believed to have coordinated and carried out the bombings. Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne shared during a news conference that the bombers appeared to be Sri Lankan citizens but may have had foreign links as well.
Now an investigation is being carried out to see if the Sri Lankan intelligence community is at fault for failing to anticipate the attacks.
