A new initiative of “community patrols” are causing concern among inhabitants of Brooklyn, New York.
The Muslim community has organized these patrols in response to crimes that have targeted Muslims in the last year.
The patrol group includes some 30 members and operates in two cars that look remarkably similar to NYPD vehicles.
Many residents of the area are worried that the group is assuming more authority than they have a right to possess.
America Talks Live host John Cardillo tweeted his displeasure with the turn of events.
To make matters worse, there is a similar case that can be used as a reference and it doesn’t make the situation look any better.
In East London “patrols” also took place, but residents found the groups members as overly aggressive. They also accused the group of harboring more extreme Islamists that tried to “impose Sharia law on unsuspecting members of the public.”
