Texas congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw was recently the punchline of a deplorable joke on Saturday Night Live.
Crenshaw later appeared on “Fox and Friends” to give an account of the events that caused the death of his interpreter and the loss of his eye.
“It’s actually a miracle that I can see at all and continue serving the American people,” he said.
Crenshaw went on to say that he has a thick skin about these type of things and regularly allows fellow soldiers to rib him, there are rules, like requiring that the joke actually be funny.
“It’s simply this. It has to be original, it has to be witty, and it has to be actually funny. And this wasn’t funny,” he said.
SNL was met with social backlash after airing the tasteless segment were Pete Davidson said, “You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate from Texas and not a hitman in a porno movie. I’m sorry. I know he lost his eye in war or whatever,” referencing Crenshaw.
Crenshaw is not demanding an apology stating,”I don’t want to demand an apology that is hollow and empty.”
He instead suggested they donate to veteran’s groups to atone.
