A couple who had been repeatedly robbed stopped a burglary when they arrived home armed.
Troy Eaton and his girlfriend Lisa-DesVoigne had been the target of break-ins three times in the last ten days.
Despite installing a home security system to ward off criminals, the couple were just returning home when they discovered yet another theft was taking place.
“We were tired of being victimized, tired of being traumatized and violated,” Lisa-DesVoigne said.
While the security system didn’t deter 20-year-old Edward Cerf from breaking in, it did notify the couple that there was cause for alarm. Having decided enough was enough, they took action.
Eaton held Cerf at gunpoint giving Lisa-DesVoigne time to call the police and direct them to the home.
“We were determined to keep him there,” she said. “It makes me feel like I took some power back from them, from these criminals.”
Eaton added, “Certainly I didn’t want to kill anybody, but the situation is frustrating enough where we had to take some kind of step to stop it.”
Law enforcement arrived within minutes and arrested Cerf as well as his purported accomplice Gabriella Solis, who admitted she was supposed to be the “eyes and ears” during the theft.
Serf and Solis were charged with second-degree burglary. There is no word whether they are responsible for the previous break-ins.
